Yesterday, U.S. fighters fired a missile at a Botswana-flagged tanker heading for the Kharg terminal in Iran. The attack destroyed the engine room, immobilizing the vessel under the justification that it defied the maritime blockade imposed by Washington. This action was followed by bombings on Qeshm Island that destroyed a drone control station and a communications tower. This would be just another attack like those occurring in recent days, aimed at preventing the organization and tactical positioning of Iranian military assets along the strait.

But this time, the Iranian response was larger than expected. Kuwait International Airport was hit by drones and missiles, resulting in severe damage to facilities, flight suspensions, and more than 60 injuries. The American base at Ali Al-Salem was also severely hit, with Iran targeting drone storage and logistics.

In the United Arab Emirates, it was announced that 15 missiles and 4 drones were intercepted, but there are reports of destruction at oil facilities and injuries. In Bahrain, U.S. 5th Fleet facilities were also hit by at least one missile.

Iranian missiles also targeted bases in Jordan, though damage is yet to be confirmed. In Qatar, Al-Udeid Air Base was struck by ballistic missiles and drones, suffering damage in its surroundings as well, with early warning radar installations being hit. The Iranian attack also targeted American facilities in northern Iraq on this June 3rd.

This was the most violent attack carried out by Iran during the ceasefire period, and the escalation is expected to continue. Iran has been kept on a slow boil for weeks, having its defenses tactically targeted while the blockade on its oil continues to prevent large-scale sales.

Trump, unlike on other occasions, now appears to have a solid plan to prevent the organization and positioning of Iranian military equipment in Hormuz and the Gulf, while simultaneously reducing Iranian state revenues.
