The Table

Trump continues to argue that the Iranian reserves will be used to purchase American products, something Iran denies was ever part of any agreement. And note that they didn’t even address the most contentious points of the referenced MoU.

Pay very close attention to our latest posts on this topic.

Iran now faces another problem that was entirely predictable. The Gulf is already using a route through Oman, bypassing the Iranian route and thus avoiding any environmental or security fees. Oman is far more sensitive to international pressure and is unlikely to impose any charges.

Iran cannot mine Omani waters, nor can it attack ships using this route.

This strips away part of Iran’s bargaining power at the very moment it accepted the deal.

Some of you may recall when I said that Trump was being well advised and had a clear plan, very different from when he started the war in such a disastrous manner. Iran has been, and still is, an excellent strategist in wartime, but it has not been replicating that same level of success in negotiations outside of war.

Let’s now watch how Iran behaves and how much time it can actually buy with this letter of intent.
